(Brousseau 1981 p.112)
• English : Situations of institutionalization
“Situations of institutionalization are those by which the cognitive status of knowledge or a piece of knowledge is fixed conventionally and explicitly. Institutionalization is internal if a group fixes its conventions freely, according to an arbitrary process which makes it a quasi-isolated system. It is external if it takes its conventions from a culture.” (Brousseau 1997 p.215)
"These are the didactical situations in which the students learn that certain of the connaissances that they formed in the course of the preceding a-didactical Situation can be organized, formulated and thus proved. The learn that henceforth they need to know them for communication and for reference."

(Grenier ibid. p.44).
